Hello! I’m Kim, the creator behind PourJoy Art.
After more than 20 years as a graphic and web designer, I discovered abstract fluid art and was instantly smitten with my new creative hobby.
As I tend to do, I dove in and learned everything I could about acrylic paint, pouring mediums, layering, paint densities, movement, and countless pouring techniques.
I thought the pouring would be the fun part. It was. But the real delight came in the waiting.
As the layers reacted and the paintings developed, I’d catch myself staring at the tiny details. Some seemed to shout, “Pick me! Pick me!” Others revealed themselves only after I’d studied the painting for a while. It became my favorite game of “Ahh…there you are!”
Before long, I realized I wasn’t painting just to create a finished painting anymore. I was painting to discover those hidden gems that refused to blend into the background.
And that’s when I fell in love with making jewelry and tiny keepsakes. So I dove in again. I researched metals, adhesives, finishes, prep, and every detail I could to make sure these little pieces would be as well-made as they were meaningful. No cutting corners! 🙂
Today, every piece from PourJoy Art begins as a tiny detail tucked inside one of my original paintings. Some become jewelry. Others become tiny framed keepsakes. Every one carries a story that almost went unnoticed.
However, there’s something even more meaningful behind all of my art.
By looking a little smaller,
I realized something bigger.
People are a lot like my paintings. We all have gifts, experiences, layers, and stories that make us unlike anyone else. And sometimes – it’s nice to have something to remind us we’re worth noticing.
I hope that when one of these little pieces finds its way to you, it becomes more than something beautiful. I hope it reminds you that you, too, are uniquely one of a kind, worthy of being noticed, and never meant to blend into the background.
